In this position, you will protect and guard all assets, staff, patients, and visitors in and around the UCLA Washington Boulevard Clinic. Security Officers perform regular patrols and document all routine activities, incidents, and may perform in a lead capacity as well as other duties as assigned. Additionally, you will enforce all policies and state laws, and follow all guidelines including state regulatory agency requirements. You will also ensure that the building is properly secured after closing.
Salary range: $21.82 - $28.24 / Hourly
- Possess and maintain current certification: Guard Card, D.O.J. Chemical Agent, CPR, driver’s license and BLS Certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
- Ability to clearly and concisely express ideas using appropriate vocabulary and spelling.

- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Primary & Specialty Care employees, Management, Security Management, Local Law Enforcement and surrounding community.

- Knowledge of applicable geography in order to expedite calls and to be an effective information source.
- Knowledge of penal and radio codes and language used in radio communications.
- Physical ability to handle various intervention incidents, including patient restraints and violent subjects.
- Physically able to perform sustained foot patrols, prolonged standing, lifting patients, and physically restrain patients or prisoners as necessary.
- Visual and hearing ability to detect and report unusual circumstances quickly and accurately.
- Working knowledge of security practices, protocols and techniques.
"Senate Bill 525 was signed into law by Governor Newsom in October 2023. Starting June 1, 2024, SB525 sets a new $23 minimum wage for nonexempt healthcare workers and raises the exempt employee salary threshold to $1,380/week (equivalent to $5,980/month or $71,760/year).

As defined under SB525, healthcare workers are defined as employees who are involved in the provision of "health care services," which means "patient care-related services including nursing; caregiving; services provided by medical residents, interns, or fellows; technical and ancillary services; janitorial work; housekeeping; grounds keeping; guard duties; business office clerical work; food services; laundry; medical coding and billing; call center and warehouse work; scheduling; and gift shop work; but only where such services support patient care".
2. Employees (career, contract, student, per diem) in the UCLA Health medical facilities (e.g. Ronald Reagan Medical Center, Santa Monica UCLA Hospital, Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, etc.) meet these criteria.
