Position Summary
The Lead Pharmacy Technician is responsible for leading and supporting daily operations of pharmacy technicians within the Inpatient Pharmacy. This position supports the training and development of the pharmacy technician practice to ensure accurate and efficient preparation and delivery of medications in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists, this role is able to perform all job duties of a pharmacy technician in addition to supporting training, scheduling, hiring, and the development of policies related to pharmacy technicians.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a certified pharmacy technician or equivalent training (Required)
- 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital setting (Preferred)
- Previous experience in pediatric patient care (Preferred)
Certifications
- Active National Certification: CPhT, ExCPT or equivalent (Required)
- Active Pharmacy Technician license in the State of Arizona (Required)
- Certified in Sterile Products and Cytotoxic Compounding or equivalent experience (Preferred)
Special Skills
- Experience with pharmacy medication management automation and systems or equivalent (Required)
- Ability to relate cooperatively, courteously, and constructively with patients, pharmacy staff, nursing, physicians, etc. (Required)
- Ability to effectively guide workflow (Required)
- Experience with word processing software (ie. Microsoft Word, Excel) or equivalent (Required)
- Working knowledge of acute care hospital pharmacy operations or equivalent (Required)
- Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills (Required)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet assigned goals (Required)
