Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Associates or Bachelor?s degree in Science is a plus
- Experience in a medical or clinical laboratory strongly preferred
- Prior experience with histological/pathological samples is a plus
- Comfortability handling biological specimens
- Ability to accurately identify specimens
- Experience working in a team environment
- Strong data entry and organizational skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Proficient in MS Office
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Able to pass a standardized color-blind test
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing including tissue and needle aspirates
- Unpack and route specimen to their respective staging areas
- Accurately identify and label specimens
- Loading and unloading staining instrumentation
- Matching tissue slides and blocks to requisitions
- Replenishing staining reagents as needed
- Scanning requisitions into lab and filing away tissue blocks
- Assist with procedures at the hospital locations
- Process all necessary paperwork to process and submit specimens
- Perform audits in order to resolve any outstanding issues
- Overtime as needed based on department demand
