JOB SUMMARY

The Attending Physician VII (Pediatric Gastroenterology) will provide care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with gastrointestinal, liver, digestive, and nutritional problems in the pediatric inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and assigned hospitals for Cook County Health (CCH). The Attending Physician will perform and supervise highly specialized gastrointestinal (GI) procedures. The Attending Physician will be actively engaged in the teaching of residents and medical students and will be expected to participate in various committees and administrative duties within the Department and the Institution.

Typical Duties

• * Provides general pediatric clinical care to all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with GI, liver, digestive, and nutrition problems across CCH settings including other sites as assigned.

• * Performs and clinically supervises GI procedures across CCH settings including other sites as assigned. Participates in clinic and consultative services.

• * Participates in quality improvement activities related to inpatient and outpatient pediatric service.

• * Supervise teams of pediatric and family medicine residents as well as medical students as they provide care for pediatric inpatients. Provide comprehensive education to the teams of learners regarding the inpatient care of pediatric patients with gastrointestinal, liver, digestive, and nutritional problems. Participate in quality improvement activities as they relate to the inpatient pediatric service.

• * Provide general pediatric clinical care to all infants, children, adolescents and young adults in the ambulatory settings with gastrointestinal, liver, digestive, and nutrition problems.

• * Clinically supervises pediatric and family medicine residents as well as medical students as they care for GI pediatric patients in the inpatient and outpatient clinics

• * Actively participates in the overall pediatrics education of the Pediatric and Family Medicine residents. The education of the residents must conform to the program requirements of the Pediatric Residency Review Committee (RRC) of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

• * Collaborates with administrative and nursing staff with regards to clinical practice

• * Participates in goals and activities of the Department of Pediatrics including administration, productivity, quality, education, and clinical research.

• * Performs other duties assigned by the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics.
