$7,500 Sign-On Bonus Eligible | Paid out in 2 equal installments over 12 months in 6-month increments (6 months and 12 months).

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Medical Assistant, certified or registered for our Central Carolina Surgery office located in Greensboro, NC to be responsible for the daily coordination of all bariatric patients both pre-operatively and post-operatively. Schedules appointments, verify insurance benefits, obtains prior approval, and manages the day-to-day functions in a manner that is consistent, timely, and compliant with all practice regulatory requirements.
Job Duties:
Responsible for fielding all bariatric patient phone calls and emails in a timely manner on a daily basis, no less than 36 hours
Responsible for receiving all incoming information packets from potential bariatric patients
Responsible for reviewing packets for insurance and practice criteria and then forwarding as necessary to physician for review
Responsible for insurance verification and benefits
Responsible for extensively checking all benefits for exclusions in patient insurance for bariatric surgery
Responsible for completing the patient flow sheet to ensure accuracy and completion of all patients
Responsible for making referral appointments to include initial, pre-op, post-op and multidisciplinary appointments before surgery
Responsible for retrieving and receiving of any incoming medical records for bariatric patients and distributing to physicians
Responsible for obtaining all pre-authorizations before surgery
Responsible for collection of all co-payments, deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses before surgery
Responsible for communicating effectively all appointments, costs and answering any bariatric questions as necessary with patients
Responsible for ongoing data entry in data outcome research products
Responsible for explaining the bariatric seminar and process
Responsible for making patient charts and files as necessary
Responsible for sending packets of information to patients as necessary
Responsible for maintaining knowledge of all insurance carrier guidelines and specific criteria related to bariatric surgery
Responsible for documenting in the appropriate bariatric tracker as required
Responsible for attending all staff meeting
Responsible for bariatric seminars as needed
Responsible for complying with all confidentiality standards of practice and all HIPAA standards
Responsible for other duties that may be assigned
Some local travel may be required
Job Eligibility Requirements:
Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
High school or GED graduation required.
Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required
Knowledge of bariatrics preferredc
BLS required
