The BH Licensed Clinician (BHLC) performs a full range of mental health services on an assigned inpatient unit and/or hospital program. The BHLC is responsible for the provision of mental health and substance use services at WakeMed via in person and tele assessments. The BHLC interviews patients and families, completes Psychiatric and Substance use psychosocial and clinical assessments, diagnoses patients using DSM-5, ICD10-codes, develops treatment plans, and offers appropriate crisis intervention/supportive counseling/social work interventions. Conducts individual, family, and group therapy sessions for patients and their families in order to assist in resolving personal and environmental problems that prevent them from achieving their highest level of psychosocial functioning. Participates as a member of the treatment team. Facilitates voluntary and involuntary commitments as directed by the physician. Assists with diagnostic clarification, post-discharge treatment recommendation, identification of treatment options, high-risk behavior mitigation and prevention planning. Develops and assists in the implementation of discharge and aftercare plans. Advises patient, family and responsible medical providers, as needed, to improve quality and continuum of care. Participates in hospital and community initiatives that address mental health and substance use issues. Maintains a working knowledge of relevant behavioral health, medical, legal issues that impact patients and the hospital system. Documents assessment, dispositions, interactions conversations etc. according to department guidelines and standards. Can work independently, can prioritize and manage time efficiently. Flexibility in accepting diverse work assignments and managing stress related to change and the ability to resolve and manage conflict.
