Our Primary Care Physicians are pivotal in providing crucial care for our Veterans. When necessary, the VA must procure the services of non-VA providers to ensure accessibility and timeliness of care. The Greater Los Angeles VA has a rare opportunity to transition from Fee-Based to full-time permanent employment, with our newest clinic coming on board in Spring 2025. 

As fee basis providers, their responsibilities include providing comprehensive care from screening for mental health concerns such as PTSD, depression, and military sexual assault trauma to substance use/abuse. They diagnose primary care needs from acute to chronic illness to gender-specific care. 

Our Primary Care Physicians evaluate and treat uncomplicated mental health and substance use disorders, coordinate specialty care, and provide preventative care for age-appropriate cancer screenings, weight management counseling, and immunization. Additionally, they analyze and synthesize data from multiple sources to establish a differential and working diagnosis. Locations available for fee-based work include West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, Sepulveda VA Clinic, and Bakersfield VA Clinic.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine
• Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine 
• Residency: Must have completed residency in an accredited core specialty
• Must be Board Certified
• Preferred: Internal Medicine expertise
• Preferred:  Minimum of 3 years of practice, but not required.
