Below is our job description and minimum requirements to apply.
Provides direct and indirect patient care in the emergency care setting. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Is able to triage safely, rapidly and accurately, every patient that enters the emergency care system. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with Emergency Department physicians about changes in patient's status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on infants, adolescents, and adults and reassessments per policy. Ability to assess neonate at delivery and perform neonatal resuscitation according to AHA guidelines. Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management. Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition. Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors. Ability to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise plan as indicted by the patient?s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, spiritual needs of patient and family. Demonstrates an ability to assist physicians with procedures in Emergency Services. Communicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, coworkers and physicians. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
Required Licenses Must have a current Mississippi Registered Nurse license or a current Compact State Registered Nurse license
Required Skills Certifications: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire or transfer. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Handle with Care are required within 90 days of hire or transfer. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) is preferred. TNCC is preferred within one year of employment/eligibility to sit for the certification. National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS),are preferred within 90 days of hire or transfer. EHAC and EMTALA training upon hire in Health Stream and once a year each year following.
