Cardiac Rapid Evaluation Unit (CREU) APP role needed in hospital based, high-risk cardiology caring for general and specialized cardiology patient populations including electrophysiology, congenital, structural heart disease and end-stage congestive heart failure (including cardiac transplant and LVAD).

The Cardiac stepdown division supports the care continuum for post-surgical cardiac patients.¿ Nurses provide specialized acute care in a fast-paced environment. It is recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Joint Commission for left ventricular assist device implantation and management and care of the patient after heart transplantation surgery. Nurses in this environment possess strong critical thinking skills and are able to make autonomous decisions.¿ Nurses also have the opportunity to be involved in the patient's progress from the immediate post-op period all the way through discharge. The staff in this unit demonstrates a true passion for nursing and joy for their work.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
The nurse practitioner functions within their scope of practice as a healthcare provider, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to patients and families across practice settings. They demonstrate a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered within the inpatient setting. The nurse practitioner demonstrates an advanced level of clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice. They work with administration staff, nurses, physicians, medical/surgical trainees, and other staff to assure safe, effective, quality patient care.Minimum Board Certification(s):BJH: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP- with appropriate experience)Preferred Board Certification(s): BJH: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)
Responsibilities
Provides compassionate, appropriate, and effective patient and family-centered care for health recovery, illness prevention, treatment of critically ill, or end-of-life care.
Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic health needs in an academic inpatient setting.
Communicates and collaborates effectively with patients, families, physicians, medical/surgical trainees, and other health professionals.
Demonstrates the highest level of accountability for professional practice by participating in professional development, quality initiative/performance activities, and implementing standards of care within area of specialization.
