The role you’ll contribute:
The Director of Emergency Nursing is a registered professional nurse with comprehensive responsibility for the assessment, problem identification, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and coordination of all processes which impact the quality and quantity of care delivered to the patients of specific age groups identified by the standards of care. The Director of Emergency Nursing assures evaluation of outcomes that promote safe, timely, and high quality practice delivery in assigned patient areas. The Director of Emergency Nursing provides leadership in the delivery of care and nursing practice both in the clinical unit and the organization.

- SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: Nursing leadership resource for Nurse Managers and team to achieve nursing specific and hospital overall goals and accountabilities. Reviews data and engages with nursing leadership and other departments to assure clinical best practice, outcomes and metrics that are established for the emergency department. Creates action plans to achieve positive outcomes.
- COMPLIANCE/REGULATORY RESPONSIBILITY: •Accountable for assuring compliance and provides evidence of performance with DNV and other regulatory requirements.
- OPERATING & CAPITAL BUDGET/FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: Analyzes financial statements. Manages financial resources to assure needed resources are available to care for the patient. Educates patient care team members on financial implications of patient care decisions.
- STRATEGIC PLANNING RESPONSIBILITY: Utilizes hospital database management, decision support, and expert systems programs to access information and analyze data from disparate sources for use in planning for patient care processes and systems.
- PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: Acts as a change agent, utilizing change theory to plan for the implementation of organizational change, supports staff during the change, and adapts leadership style to the situations of the change.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN)
- Two years progressive management experience
- Five years nursing experience
Preferred qualifications:
- Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) or Master's degree in health-related field highly preferred
- Minimum of five years' experience in emergency nursing with two years' experience in leadership roles in a comparable health care entity
