UVA General Pediatrics Division Director
The University of Virginia Department of Pediatrics and Division of General Pediatrics invite applications for Division Director of General Pediatrics. Academic pediatric generalists at the rank of Associate or Full Professor are encouraged to apply. This position may be tenure-eligible depending on the candidate s credentials.

The Division Director will lead the faculty in all clinical and academic mission areas, including clinical service, education of trainees at all levels, research program development, and administrative activities of all divisional programs.
General responsibilities include coordinating and enhancing all clinical, academic and research activities of the Division. The Director will also be primarily responsible for creating and implementing the vision and goals for the Division, in alignment with the broader strategic plans for the Department of Pediatrics and UVA Health Children s.
Academic responsibilities include overseeing all divisional faculty, advancing their careers by providing professional and personal development opportunities, overseeing high-quality innovative training, supporting research activities for the division, and modeling a culture of inquiry to ensure active engagement in quality improvement, scholarly excellence and innovation in all missions.
Administrative responsibilities include creating an environment of excellence and innovation in clinical practice that supports positive patient outcomes. Applicants with an active research program are preferred.
Our team consists of primary care pediatricians, pediatric hospitalists, newborn hospitalists, child abuse pediatricians, and breastfeeding medicine specialists. We are experts in evaluating and managing care for families in the general pediatric, pediatric acute care, newborn hospital, and child abuse and breastfeeding medicine clinic settings. Currently, we have over 35 general pediatric faculty.
Community outreach is a priority, and we are also dedicated academicians and scientists, engaged in research to better understand problems related to the care of children in order to develop innovative ways to prevent or treat these conditions. Among the faculty in our Division are national experts in SIDS research, Breastfeeding Medicine, Quality Improvement, and Medical Education.
The ideal candidate for the UVA General Pediatrics Division Director position is an established academic generalist with strong leadership skills. An active research program is desirable but not required. The Division Director will be expected to actively participate in clinical service.
