Job Summary:
The Vanderbilt Health Executive Search Team is conducting a national search for a Vice President of Adult Ambulatory Operations and VUMC Primary Care System. The Vice President of Adult Ambulatory Operations and VUMC Primary Care System will create a platform of clinically and operationally integrated primary care services and provide leadership and direction for the ambulatory operations of Primary Care, Women's Services, and Behavioral Health Clinics which includes planning, financial and resource management, staffing, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement. The Vice President of Adult Ambulatory Operations and VUMC Primary Care System oversees the development of VUMC's primary care growth goals, strategies, and business plans. The Vice President of Adult Ambulatory Operations and VUMC Primary Care System will ensure VUMC has the appropriate portfolio of Primary Care, Women's Services, and Behavioral Health Services, and coordinate initiatives with VHAN/Population Health, VHS, Business Development, and others to enable VUMC to accomplish its strategic goals. The Vice President of Adult Ambulatory Operations and VUMC Primary Care System will develop a diverse portfolio of projects related to clinical affiliations and value-based collaborations. This role ensures alignment of the primary care system to achieve value for individual patients and populations of patients through improved reliable outcomes of care measured with indicators of Quality, Safety, Access, Equity, and Cost while directing and integrating the various functions of the division into the overall organization with responsibility for its performance and outcomes.

Role Accountabilities:
- Oversee ambulatory operations of the following clinics and services:
- Adult Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and Med/Peds Clinics
- Vanderbilt Health On Call (VHOC) Service
- School of Nursing primary care, Women's, and Behavioral Health Clinics
- Geriatric Clinics
- Familiar Faces Clinics
- VMG and Joint Venture Walk-In Clinics
- Retail Clinics at Walgreens
- Concierge Services
- Executive Health Services
- Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) Clinics
- Women's Clinics
- Behavioral Health clinics
- Rural Health clinics
- Serve as liaison to and work closely with the leaders over VHAN, Population Health, and Employer-Based Clinics.
- Develop and propose a comprehensive VUMC Primary Care strategy.
- Develop and propose a comprehensive VUMC Behavioral Health strategy.
- Generate cohesive business plans in collaboration with various VUMC constituents (e.g., Legal, Chairs and Chiefs, Operations, Finance, Payor Contracting, IT, Executive Staff, VHAN, etc.) to secure approval.
- Participate on teams charged with completing mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, affiliations, and any other transaction models.
- Understand healthcare trends, physician drivers, and evolving alignment options utilizing market information to guide business development efforts and to inform strategy.
- Build trusted relationships with executives and other stakeholders to shape strategy and ensure alignment across VUMC's constituents.
- Demonstrate commitment to VUMC's Ambulatory Operations by integrating our culture in all internal and external customer interactions; deliver on VUMC's brand promise of continuity of patient experience through innovation, accountability, efficiencies, collaboration, compassion, and results.
- Implement standardized operations and ensure consistency of high-quality services regardless of service location.
- Ensure that quality and safety policies, procedures, framework, and activities promote the accomplishment of organizational business and strategic goals.
- Develop concepts for new and improved services, programs, policies, and procedures.
- Execute efficient decision-making and dissemination of information.
- Coordinate and direct budget preparation for the achievement of financial and operational goals; ensure that revenue, expenses, contribution margin, and FTEs meet or exceed budget.
- Assure adherence of services to program expectations, State, Federal, and local licensure or regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards at all sites.

Qualifications:
- Master's Degree and 10 years experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Finance, Analytics, and/or Business Administration
- 15+ years' experience in ambulatory operations leadership, business development, network development, transaction, or strategic planning in the healthcare service sector
- Experience in establishing a primary care network
- Experience overseeing primary care network operations
- Experience working for a large health system, preferably an academic medical center
