Harris and Smith at Patterson Place - 5324 McFarland Dr, Durham NC
$7,500 Commitment Bonus Eligible | Paid out in 2 equal installments over 12 months in 6-month increments (6 months and 12 months).
**Only new hires who have not worked for Duke University Health System in the past 12 months (at the time of offer) are eligible to receive the Commitment bonus.**
JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Medical Assistant, Certified in our Harris and Smith at Patterson Place located in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team to provide direct and indirect care to patients.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, provide and document nursing care at Harris and Smith OB-GYN while utilizing the nursing care process in accordance with physician orders and established procedures.
Collect and analyze patient data, document outcomes and patient responses and report necessary information to other staff as needed. Assess and communicate accurate information to physicians to ensure appropriate care.
Perform necessary in clinic testing of patient samples of urine and blood with proper use lab equipment such as Clinitek and Hemocue.
Collaborates with RN to initiate or revise a plan of care based on needs of patient.
Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of patient care.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment; appropriately stock and clean exam rooms.
Identify improvement opportunities for clinical, operational and safety related performance.
Participate in clinic compliance activities (I.E audits and PI projects)
Maintain required competencies for education. Be able to identify learning needs and seek appropriate assistance or educational offerings.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
High school or GED graduation required.
Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
BLS required
Level I -- No experience required.
Level II -- 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting.
JOB HOURS:
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
