UCLA Health IT is looking for an outstanding Principal Cloud Architect and Engineer to join the Solutions Architecture and Engineering (SAE) group. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Cloud Architect and Engineer to lead and innovate our cloud infrastructure. This pivotal role involves designing, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud solutions, with a focus on core infrastructure, networking, firewall, security, analytics, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI).The Principal Cloud Architect and Engineer is responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership, and vision to define and implement the enterprise multi-cloud platform strategy while employing industry best practices to provide a secure, innovative, and cost-effective computing environment to solve some of the most demanding technical challenges in Healthcare.
This flexible hybrid role allows for a blend of remote and on-site work, requiring presence on-site at least three days a quarter and as needed based on operational requirements. Please note, travel to the "home office" location is not reimbursed. Each employee will complete a FlexWork Agreement with their manager to outline expectations and ensure mutual understanding. These arrangements are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted or terminated as necessary.
Salary offers are based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The full salary range for this position is $124,600 - $289,400 annually. The University anticipates offering a salary between the minimum and $180,000 annually.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Computer Science or Equivalent (Engineering, Mathematics, IT) with relevant experience
15+ years of strong enterprise technology experience in both hands-on architecture and leadership roles
10+ years of experience (both on-premises and Cloud) designing, implementing, deploying and managing enterprise infrastructure, data management, software development, meeting security and regulatory requirements and data center build and operations
7+ years of experience with security architecture, designing systems to mitigate cybersecurity threats, and preferably providing security-specific outreach or training to infrastructure and development groups
7+ years of experience in a healthcare provider organization, with at least 5 years in an Academic Medical Center, preferably with exposure to projects related to delivery of care, hospital operations, billing operations, inter-organizational interfaces, custom integration with EMR systems, and analytics
5+ years of experience in software architecture, design, and development utilizing the Microsoft .Net platform
Demonstrated, hands on experience leading at least two significant enterprise (Azure and AWS) cloud deployment
AWS/Azure Certified Azure Cloud Engineer, Architect, and Administrator certifications are required.
Working knowledge of DevOps principles and practices, or experience in a real-time operational role.
Experience with automation processes using tools like Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or AWS CloudFormation.
Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes for efficient application deployment and management.
Solid foundation in data analytics, ML, and AI principles.
