Manage the work of the maintenance department to include general repair, demolition, build, and project work orders. Coordinate with 3rd party contractors as needed. Guide the work of the maintenance team; monitor the quality and timeliness of work being done by the group; communicate activities and project statuses to management; act as a technical resource for the group and guides decisions on all aspects of the work; takes on operations assignments and projects as time allows.
? Determine work order priorities, supply requirements, and skill needs for each work order; assign order to members of the maintenance team. ? Assign new work and projects to maintenance and facility staff consistent with the goals of the hospital and capabilities and professional development plans of the staff. ? Schedule all work assigned to the group; work with management to establish appropriate time frames for projects. ? Track and report activities and project status at the group level; provide regular status reports to management on the activities and projects of the group. ? Develop and maintain the work schedule to ensure appropriate staff coverage for each shift. ? Monitor work and deliverables of the group and address issues as needed; ensure that work is performed and completed in an efficient and timely manner and meets the desired outcome and quality standards. ? Assist in the development and maintenance of standards and procedures for the group that can be followed to produce consistent, high-quality products and/or services; provide input and makes decisions on the issues related to standards. ? Facilitate and oversee staff training and professional development; train and/or assign mentors to new staff members; develop training and career development plans as appropriate; coordinate department orientation and training. ? Take an active role in improving the department; assist staff in developing and sharpening skills; address group issues needing attention; identifies methods for better work performance and ways to improve products and/or services, etc. ? Work with management to set direction for the group, assess ongoing staff needs, and measures department deliverables against objectives and goals.
? Work with management as needed to prepare annual expense budget for the department/group and provide input into the preparation of the capital budget. ? Facilitate a responsible fiscal management strategy; ensure the proper utilization of financial resources through the development and adherence to an approved budget. ? Manage the allocation of personnel resources and other finite resources with regards to budget responsibility and productivity measures. ? Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base of organizational and industry trends; ensure staff is informed and knowledgeable of events, activities, and trends relevant to them. ? Attend required safety training programs; facilitate a safe environment for staff and patients; follow established protocols for patient and workplace safety. ? Promote a positive and collaborative team environment. ? Manage the day-to-day activities of the assigned team. Provide leadership, direction and growth opportunities to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the Hospital?s policies and applicable laws. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning or directing work, appraising performance, disciplining team members and resolving problems. Work with Human Resources to resolve more complex associate-related issues. ? Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or completion of GED Equivalent. Associates degree or higher in a related field is preferred.
Minimum Work Experience: Eight (8) years of facility maintenance experience within an acute care hospital or large healthcare provider. Completed higher educational program above that may be applied in lieu of up to four (4) years of the experience requirement.
License(s) / Certification(s): ? Certified through the American Heart Association to provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is preferred. ? Licensed in one or more trades (i.e., electrical, plumbing, etc.).
