Position Summary
The Polysomnographic Technician is responsible for performing comprehensive Polysomnographic testing and analysis, and associated interventions under the general oversight of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and/or the medical director (M.D., D.O., or PhD) or designee. A Polysomnographic Technician can provide oversight of a Polysomnographic Trainee. This is a technical position functioning independently with limited supervision. Work situations require extensive knowledge and the application of advanced expertise in the field of sleep disorders, and sound clinical judgments, actions, and decision making regarding unusual patient behavior, i.e. seizure activity, life threatening cardiac and respiratory abnormalities. Internal contacts are basically within the work group but may include patient care staff and management throughout the Medical Center. This position has external contacts with physicians as well as extensive direct patient care and patient contact on a daily basis.
Requirements
Completion of certification (CPSGT) in polysomnography within six (6) months of employment
Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification
Successful completion of an accredited (CAAHEP preferred) educational program leading to an associate degree with emphasis in polysomnography
OR successful completion of a polysomnography program of no less than one year duration associated with a state licensed and/or nationally accredited (CAAHEP preferred) educational facility
OR successful completion of an American Academy of Sleep Medicine A-STEP accredited educational program leading to a certificate in polysomnography
OR minimum six months work experience as a Polysomnographic Trainee
Documented proficiency in core competencies
Arrival preparation and electrode/sensor application
Capnography
Maintenance, cleaning and safety precautions
Monitoring Pulse Oximetry
PAP titration
Polysomnographic montages and equipment calibration and function
Supplemental low flow oxygen titration
Minimum one (1) year polysomnographic technology experience (preferred)

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $34.91 - $55.58 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicants years of experience align.
