Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Financial Navigation Senior Manager, the Medicaid and Disability Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision and direction of screening, application and follow-up processes and staff in obtaining Medicaid, Medicare, Disability, Crime Victim Compensation and other public benefits for the population in need served by Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS). This position is also responsible for fostering and sustaining positive, constructive, long term relationships with state and federal agencies supporting public benefits as representative of NGHS.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications: CPC, CCS or equivalent coding certification or clinical licensure (e.g., LPN) preferred.

Preferred Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree preferred with a minimum of two (2) years of progressive supervisory experience within financial counseling functionalities or a related area and knowledge of Revenue Cycle Operations. Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Models five patient receivables strategies when screening and counseling uninsured patients: locating coverage, applying for Medicaid, processing payments in full, setting up payment plans, and completing charity applications.
Responsible for the day to day operations of Medicaid and Disability team, including resource allocation and monitoring quality and productivity standards for staff.
Works with Financial Navigation Senior Manager for all human resource management including hiring, counseling, disciplining, management of timekeeping and termination of employees.
Serves as super user and subject matter expert for all Medicaid and Disability processes as well as key advocate for NGHS' Medicaid and Disability programs to all state and federal governmental agencies and secondary vendors with whom NGHS may be partnered.
Develops and promotes the use of standard work and competencies for staff. Provides training and on-going support to all members of the Financial Navigation Department and other members of the Revenue Cycle as well as other key stake holders.
Responsible for overall tracking status of disability cases, and utilizes information to track individual and departmental performance.
Continuously improves processes and policies associated with Medicaid and Disability programs, coordinating in a positive and constructive manner with Registration, Patient Financial Services, NGPG CBO and other related departments on a system-wide scale.
Helps ensure department compliance with DNV and other regulatory requirements by monitoring processes.
Responsible for the utilization of positive communication skills with staff, patients, facilities, and physicians.
Serves as a "working" supervisor having the ability to assist the department in any position should the need arise.
Participates in education and training efforts to maintain levels of knowledge.
Assists in budget development and manages resources within budgetary constraints (time and attendance).
Utilizes organization and prioritization skills in their daily tasks. Utilizes time management skills to ensure completion of daily processes.
May perform other duties as assigned or requested.
