Join our team at the Translational Pathology Core Laboratory dedicated to advancing biomedical research efforts by providing high-quality histology services and remnant human tissue samples. As a Histotechnologist 1, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating research endeavors by collaborating with the scientific community at UCLA. Your primary responsibilities include:
• Processing formalin-fixed specimens
• Embedding specimens in paraffin and fresh snap-frozen specimens in OCT
• Sectioning paraffin and frozen sections
• Staining samples using various techniques including H&E, special stains, immunohistochemical, and immunofluorescence stains
• Preparing solutions and maintaining laboratory equipment
• Procuring remnant human tissue samples, including receiving tissues for fresh distribution, banking, freezing, or formalin processing.
• Entering associated sample information into a secure database.
Salary Range: $52.83/hour - $63.14/hour
• ASCP Histotechnologist (HT) certification, or eligibility to obtain it within 4 months of hire.
• Previous experience in a histology lab.
• Proficiency in cutting tissue sections at 2, 3, and 5 microns.
• Thorough knowledge of tissue preparation and processing protocols for frozen and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded samples.
• Familiarity with proper tissue dissection procedures.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality tissue samples.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
