The Pharmacy Supervisor acts as a partner to the Chief of Pharmacy Service and in the absence of the Chief, assumes responsibility for all Pharmacy Service Programs at the Danville VA Healthcare System. Education: You must be a Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. OR You must be a Graduate of a foreign pharmacy degree programs that meet the educational requirement and able to provide proof of achieving the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Commission (FPGEC) Certification, which includes passing the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL IBT). (DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED) LICENSURE: You must possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory or Common wealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Grade Determinations: Must possess at least one (1) full year of creditable experience at the next lower level (GS-12) or equivalent, VA or Non VA, which is directly related to the Supervisory Pharmacist position which includes: Responsibility for the professional and administrative management of an assigned area in pharmacy service, to include budgetary execution. Such individuals have responsibilities for supervising multiple pharmacists and technicians. Manages people, maintains effective interdepartmental relations, and cooperates with other services to accomplish the medical facility's mission and goals. Develops performance standards, assures that the program area is compliant with all regulatory and accrediting body requirements, designs and implements orientation and training programs for staff, and develops and maintains systems to monitor the performance of staff activities. Ensures that employees meet performance standards and competencies and identifies areas for improvement as needed. Coordinates staffing and assesses workload shifts throughout the day for maximum efficiency. Develops and establishes policies and procedures defining operational requirements. Provides patients, caregivers and customers of the pharmacy information regarding the use, storage, handling, precautions and potential adverse effects of their medications.
