Position Summary:
The Director of Expense Management will develop, implement and monitor the expense management program which is a systematic approach to optimize financial performance by efficiently managing and decreasing the overall cost structure. The Director, in addition to leading the Executive Expense Management Steering Committee, provides leadership across regional/system expense management teams to develop and execute on priority initiatives and guides the development of expense management strategies ensuring alignment with the Hartford Healthcare mission and vision.
Key Accountabilities:
Provide leadership across regional/system expense management teams to develop and execute on priority initiatives, coordinating across all council structures
Leads the expense management budget process coordinating with financial and operational stakeholders; leads annual planning cycle; performance tracking; leads stakeholder meetings; monitors and analyzes expense trends and variances, providing insights to senior leadership
Develops a continuous pipeline to support and achieve expense management targets; guides the development of expense management strategies; collaborates with leadership to identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiencies
Cultivates cost consciousness by encouraging a shared sense of responsibility for cost management throughout the organization
Empower all employees to contribute innovative ideas and strategies aimed at improving efficiency and reducing expenses
Cultivate a culture of fiscal responsibility across Hartford HealthCare
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree is required
Five plus years in a healthcare leadership role within a health system setting in the functional areas of supply chain, finance, project management, business administration or a related area. Significant experience may compensate for healthcare background
Strong project management skills, proven ability to execute
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to drive cost-saving initiatives
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with stakeholders across all levels of the organization
Strong understanding of supply and purchased services used in clinical environments
Strong leadership skills, ability to lead through influence
Proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and expense management tools
