Position Summary:
The Lab Director oversees all operational aspects of the laboratory, with a focus on productivity, quality assurance, compliance, and cost-effectiveness. This leadership role ensures the laboratory operates at peak performance to support client needs and regulatory standards.
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am -4:30pm, Flexibility with schedule to ensure effective business support.

Essential Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Plan, organize, and direct laboratory operations to meet client requirements and achieve organizational goals.
Develop and implement productivity benchmarks, cost-control measures, and strategic initiatives for operational efficiency.
Evaluate and enhance laboratory workflows, ensuring alignment with compliance and quality standards.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure strict adherence to CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and other applicable regulatory and safety standards.
Oversee quality control and quality assurance programs, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
Maintain and update standard operating procedures to reflect best practices and regulatory compliance.
Operational Oversight:
Monitor laboratory performance, including the physical environment, equipment needs, and supply chain management.
Collaborate with technical staff to assess and implement new equipment and automation technologies.
Manage the calibration and verification of assays and ensure processes align with quality and operational goals.
Team Development:
Lead and develop a high-performing team of supervisors and lead technologists through coaching, training, and performance management.
Conduct annual competency reviews to ensure staff meet performance expectations and compliance requirements.
Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation within the laboratory team.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as a primary liaison between the laboratory and client leadership, ensuring clear communication and alignment with expectations.
Maintain strong customer-focused relationships, resolving operational issues proactively and effectively.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Master?s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or a related life science with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
OR Bachelor?s degree in a related life science with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
Certifications:
ASCP, AMT, or equivalent laboratory certification required.
Experience and Skills:
Proven experience in high-volume, hospital-based laboratory settings.
Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and state-specific regulations.
Familiarity with laboratory QA processes, calibration, and verification of assays.
Proficient in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated success in coaching and developing both technical and non-technical staff.
Exceptional organizational and communication skills with a focus on problem-solving and decision-making.
Experience managing laboratory operations across multiple locations preferred.
