The full performance, Emergency Department (ED) Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) is assigned to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA). The position serves as an advanced technician for the ED for patients who are present for treatment. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR): IOR must be satisfied to be further considered for the position. Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: GS-07 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Administration of medication and collects specimens. Assists licensed personnel with the delivery of care to patients with complex, specialized, and potentially life-threatening situations. Responds to medical emergencies as a part of the Rapid Response Team (RRT), Code Blue team, or medical transport team. Performs Cardiovascular monitoring to include: providing support, relief, and coverage as needed to central station telemetry. Operates specialized medical equipment and assists with patient exams and screenings. OR; Education: One full year of related graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7. OR; Combination of Education and Experience: To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-07. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education. Assists in behavioral/psychiatric situations in an emergency setting. Sets up equipment and surgical instrumentation. Performs Vital Signs and Point of Care Testing.
