Breast Cancer:
The Registration Clerk performs clerical duties as required by PIH Health Breast Center Whittier to meet the needs of the patient and facilitating the delivery of care. Strong customer service skills are essential. Duties may include filing, image management, copying, scheduling, phone messaging, data entry, collection of patient liability and support of mammography auditor clerical tasks as well as other tasks as assigned. This position may require travel to off-site locations.
Radiation:
This position will provide clerical support for the Radiation Oncology Department. Insure entry of appropriate patient information and utilization of correct patient account. Verify insurance eligibility for all patients and obtain authorization prior to patient visit.
Laboratory:
Performs registration, specimen accessioning, processing, test ordering, clerical duties, faxing and telephone answering.

Breast Cancer:
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communications and strong interpersonal skills
Communicate effectively with staff, patients, guarantors, insurance companies, and physicians.
Demonstrates attention to detail.
Good English speaking, spelling, reading, and mathematical skills required.
Must possess excellent telephone etiquette, and customer service skills.
Proficient computer skills and knowledge in Word, Excel, Outlook, and ability to maneuver through multiple screens in a timely manner.
Ability to sort & file material correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems; computer data entry skills; ability to work effectively in fast-paced situations & tight deadlines.
Ability to stay on task in a fast and high-volume environment.
Strict adherence to all HIPAA laws
Strong commitment to customer service with demonstrated ability to create a positive patient experience.
Demonstrates the ability to work well independently, as well as part of a team.
Radiation:
Ability to type 45 words per minute.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Basic computer skills in Microsoft program
Knowledge of insurance carriers and approval process
Effective communication skills including telephone technique.
Ability and knowledge to work with patients ages adolescence through elderly.
Laboratory:
Computer data entry
Filing and record keeping
Communication / telephone skills
Operate centrifuge.
Laboratory terminology helpful
Breast Cancer:
Required:
High school diploma or GED
Minimum 1 year of hospital/healthcare experience in registration, financial counseling, insurance verification, clerical/office, unit clerking or 2 years of customer service experience
Preferred:
Prior medical or hospital experience with electronic medical record system
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish)
Medical terminology knowledge
Medical insurance knowledge
Radiation:
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
Minimum one (1) year experience in the medical field.
