This position is in the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service working for VA Boston HCS in Jamaica Plain, MA. Performs work in the clinical laboratory involving pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical stages using perfected laboratory techniques in chemistry, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis and microbiology. Selects, performs, evaluates and monitors the performance of high complexity, moderate complexity and waived testing procedures using manual and/or instrument techniques in accordance with established protocols. Evaluates the validity of data in relation to the test system and accepted assay procedures to assure the patient results are accurate. Performs maintenance, daily startup and shut down of the instruments inclusive but not limited to reagent, control, and calibrator selection and preparation. Maintains all testing platforms. Maintains equipment, supplies and facilities. Assists in record keeping practices in accordance with current record keeping guidelines, and patient information security.
