Pay range: $45.92 - $68.87 per hour ($95,513 - $143,249 annually), based on experience.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Information Services and Technology (IS&T) department helps improve the work of our caregivers by providing efficient systems, comprehensive training, and stellar customer service. We do this by taking pride in the integrity of our workflows, data security, and training delivery. POSITION OVERVIEW: The IT Solution Architect at St. Charles Health System (SCHS) plays a key role in gathering detailed business and clinical requirements to design and implement technology solutions that support the organizations mission. This position focuses on identifying optimal IT solutions-including applications, hardware, medical devices, and integrated systems-that meet the needs of both clinical and business stakeholders. Collaborating closely with executives, technical teams, vendors, and cross-functional teams, the IT Solution Architect translates business requirements into scalable, efficient, and secure technology solutions. The role involves conducting thorough assessments, recommending best-fit solutions, and ensuring alignment with SCHSs strategic objectives. Additionally, the IT Solution Architect collaborates with an integrated team to design, validate, and implement the supporting architecture, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance of systems. This position is essential in ensuring that technology solutions are both innovative and sustainable, supporting SCHSs ongoing efforts to deliver high quality care and operational efficiency.
This position does not directly manage any other caregivers, however may be asked to review and provide feedback upon the work of others.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Gather Business and Clinical Requirements: Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business, clinical, and operational needs, ensuring that IT solutions align with organizational goals and user needs.
Design Technology Solutions: Architect and design integrated solutions, including applications, hardware, medical devices, and systems, to meet identified requirements and optimize healthcare delivery.
Evaluate and Recommend Solutions: Analyze and assess available technologies, recommending the best-fit solutions based on functionality, scalability, and cost effectiveness.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with executives, technical architects, vendors, and operational teams to ensure that designs align with business objectives and technical feasibility.
Develop Solution Architectures: Create detailed technical architecture documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and system integration plans, for approval and implementation.
Ensure System Integration: Ensure seamless integration of solutions with new and existing systems, including electronic health records (EHR), medical devices, and infrastructure, to maintain a cohesive IT ecosystem.
Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify potential risks related to technology implementation and system integration, developing strategies to mitigate those risks and ensure system stability and compliance.
Support Project Implementation: Provide leadership and guidance in a consulting capacity throughout the implementation phase, working with the PMO and other teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
Optimize Performance and Scalability: Continuously assess system performance and identify opportunities to improve scalability, efficiency, and security for evolving healthcare needs.
Maintain Documentation and Compliance: Ensure that all architectural designs and system implementations are fully documented, comply with relevant healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA), and follow industry best practices.
Collaborates extensively with IT Leaders and technical delivery teams to ensure alignment of best practices and standards.

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelors degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field; or a combination of education and experience that will enable performance of the full scope of the position.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
Required: Certification in architectural framework (TOGAF, COBIT, etc.) required within 1 year of hire.
Preferred: At least (1) IT or professional certification such as Epic, Workday, Dimensions,
ServiceNow, ITIL or PMP.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Minimum of two (2) years of experience in IT architecture, with a proven history in designing and implementing technology solutions, ideally within healthcare environments. The ideal candidate must have direct experience gathering detailed business and clinical requirements from diverse stakeholders. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, and security compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA) relevant to healthcare IT. The role requires excellent problem-solving skills to assess complex business needs and identify optimal solutions, as well as the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred: Experience with healthcare applications such as Epic, Health Information Systems (HIS), and medical devices.
TRAVEL: Ability to travel to business functions / trainings / meetings for all St. Charles Health Systems sites and affiliate sites as required. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
