The Adult Clinic Audiologist performs evidence-based, best practice comprehensive audiologic and tinnitus evaluations. Will complete hearing technology evaluations, fittings, and checks and uses motivational interviewing and positive language counseling techniques to create a remarkable patient experience. Will participate in community and physician outreach events and assists in clinic growth initiatives that align with the mission, values, and objectives of Hearts for Hearing.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Audiology Functions
Routine Diagnostic audiology including behavioral assessments of auditory function with standard procedures.
Physiological assessment of auditory function
Hearing aid selection, fitting, verification, and validation
Hearing screening and hearing conservation education
Educational audiology services and comprehensive consultation
Comprehensive tinnitus and sound sensitivity evaluations and treatment
Vestibular evaluations and treatment
Protects patients’ privacy and well in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA Guidelines.
Completes patient visit notes within a timely fashion consistent with Hearts for Hearing policies and procedures.
Completes billing in a timely fashion using accepted coding and billing practices.
Ensures patient services comply with internal policies, clinical protocols, and are HIPAA compliant.
Contributes to regularly scheduled Audiology Team Meetings
Contributes to regularly scheduled clinic staffing with physician community partners.
Collaborates with the front office receptionist team to proactively fill direct- patient care time.
Completes patient visit notes for new patients, fittings, and candidacy assessments according to the Hearts for Hearing Policy.
Calibrate and maintain personal and booth equipment, participate in clinic events (eg. fundraising), maintain infection control protocols, upkeep individual performance metrics spreadsheets, attend weekly audiology staffing and adult clinic meetings, maintain adult clinic tidiness and cleanliness in all spaces, attend manufacturer trainings as needed, and train and educate audiology students.
Physician outreach organize physician educational handouts and presentations, visit physician offices, and identify new physician offices to visit
Community outreach: lead health fair, senior center, and specialty groups (eg. Lion’s Club, YMCA, Engineers Club, etc.) presentations and hearing screenings and identify new community centers/groups to visit.
Professional development: Keep up to date with current trends and research-backed best patient care practices, minimum of 20 hours/year continuing education, read current peer- reviewed and audiology journal publications, foster relationships with mentors, value and respect cultural and personal beliefs of coworkers and patients, engage with national audiology organizations and conventions, and advocate for patients’ and audiologists’ rights on the state and national levels.
IT support: set up or troubleshoot clinic equipment and act as liaison between clinic staff and IT support.
Clinic supply maintenance: coordinate new and replenishment orders of clinical supplies with audiology assistant (eg. hearing technology supplies) and building manager (eg. snacks/drinks, paper goods, office supplies, etc.)
Other duties and projects as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
Doctorate (clinical AuD or PhD) in audiology required.
Oklahoma State licensure in audiology required.
Certified in basic life support training required.
Excellent clinical skills and a passion to optimize listening of adults with hearing loss.
Solves problems with effective decisions and makes decisions in a timely manner.
Listens well and demonstrates excellent communication.
Uses problem solving skills to implement creative solutions when challenges arise.
Deals effectively with change and can function without knowing all answers.
Travels for conferences, training, in satellite locations or other actions requests by Director of
