The role you’ll contribute:
Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Primary responsibility is the provision of medication distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks, which includes but is not limited to assisting the pharmacist with all duties of preparing and dispensing of medications, inventory management, and regulatory compliance. Performs duties necessary for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs. Accurately responds to medication dispensing requests, prepares medications for pharmacist final review/check, delivers checked medications, and returns unused or expired medications to appropriate pharmacy areas.

• Actively performs all pharmacy technician functions and maintains active proficiency in standard work parameters, hospital and pharmacy specific computer systems, and operational programs • Maintains operational expertise and competency and actively provides coverage of at least two of the following: • Central/distributive pharmacy operations • Sterile compounding • Decentral/ Automated Dispensing Cabinet delivery pharmacy operations
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
·Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, problemsolving, and customer service skills
·Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes as necessary
·Ability to interact constructively with supervisors, peers, and external customers
·Ability to follow direction from formal management personnel and informal supervisors (pharmacists) and at times, to work well without direct supervision
·Ability to identify, follow up, and resolve discrepancies
·Ability to identify, resolve, and mitigate pharmacy operational or program issues
·Ability to keep accurate and complete records
·Knowledge of medical terminology
·Ability to teach pharmacy technician students
·Proficiency in hospital computer system technology and automation
·Knowledge and competence in aseptic techniques chemotherapy product compounding (if applicable)
·Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
·Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
·Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
·High School Degree
·One year of Contemporary hospital pharmacy experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
·Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in a physical science, business or healthcare
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
·Registered Pharmacy Technician in their respective state
·If applicable to facility Sterile Compounding Certification
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
·Current certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or from the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT)
·Current certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or from the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT)
