Dermatology at Patterson Place - 5324 McFarland Dr, Durham NC
JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Medical Assistant, Certified in our Dermatology at Patterson Place located in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.
$7,500 Commitment Bonus Eligible | Paid out in 2 equal installments over 12 months in 6-month increments (6 months and 12 months).
**Only new hires who have not worked for Duke University Health System in the past 12 months (at the time of offer) are eligible to receive the Commitment bonus.**
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adhere to Joint Commission, Environment of Care and Infection Prevention guidelines reviewed in monthly EOC, TJC and IPL rounds
Set up for sterile procedures
Prepare a sterile instrument tray
Clean and package surgical instruments for sterilization
Assist provider with the following procedures; Shave biopsy, Punch biopsy Excisions, ED&C, Cryotherapy, Unna Boots
Review the New/Return patient form with the patient
Review patient history questionnaire
Complete global assessment for every return patient
Complete a learning assessment for every patient on each encounter
Assisting in tracking infection rates during suture removal
Record vital signs, medication reconciliation and allergy identification
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Level I -- Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred.
Level II -- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
High school or GED graduation required.
Level II -- 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting.
Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
BLS required.
