·Performs and documents accurate initial assessment per unit standard which may include: initial observation, obtaining andinterpretinginformationintermsofthepatients'needs,safety,dischargeplanning,psych/social/cultural,familyneeds, multi-systemphysicalassessment,patient/familylevelofknowledgeandreadinesstolearnaboutdiseaseprocessandcare requirements. Reports appropriate information in a timely manner to responsible physician.
·Performsanddocumentsongoingpatientassessmentwhichaccuratelyreflectspatients'physicalandmentalstatus ranging from child to geriatric according to unit standards and patient condition.
·Initiates use of restraints per hospital policy and procedures. Demonstrates commitment in the use of safe and appropriatealternativespriortotheapplicationofanypatientrestraintdevice.Maintainscompetencyintheapplication, monitoring and care of the patient in restraints.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGEANDEXPERIENCESTRONGLYPREFERRED:
·Mustbeabletouseahighlevelofabstractreasoningtoassesspatient,evaluateinterventions,andreviseplanofcare according to patient outcomes.
·Current AHA Advanced Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or EmergencyNursesTraumaNursingCoreClass(TNCC) and/or NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).Certificationsmayberequireduponhireforcertain departments. Refer to facility policy.
·Nationalcertificationinareasofpractice. Refer to facility policy.
·Memberofnationalprofessionalorganization. Refer to facility policy.
