Required:
One (year) of comprehensive ultrasound experience to included advanced imaging techniques, breast imaging, OB/GYN imaging in all trimesters, vascular (RVT) and interventional.
ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) certification.
AS degree and graduate of an accredited (CAAHEP) School of Diagnostic Sonography, AS degree and graduate of an accredited Allied Health program with an additional requirement of 12 months of full-time instruction in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Graduate of bachelor’s program with an additional requirement of 12 months of full-time instruction in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Responsibilities:
Proficient in advanced ultrasound imaging techniques, above average knowledge of computer / Picture and Archiving Communication System (PACS) applications
Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team
Independently perform Ultrasound scanning of the body
Use software to post process data into necessary images for interpretation by radiologists
Receive patients, explains methods of procedure, positions patients, counsels’ patients regarding the risks/benefits of the procedures for the examination requested
Maintain safe working environment for patients and support staff
Determine probe selection, technical factors, positioning to optimize exam performance and image quality
Transmit images to PACS for physician review. Reviews patient’s prior images on PACS to prepare for examination performance
Confer with radiologists to establish non-standard imaging parameters best suited for demonstrating a specific pathology on a case-by-case basis
Use proper telephone etiquette to schedule patients for examinations using the military HIS/RIS system (CHCS)
Evaluate the nature of critical and emergency procedures and rearranges patient priorities to
accommodate clinical priorities
Maintain records (manually and through the use of word/data processing software) of procedures performed, high-level disinfection performance., etc.
Advise radiologist or referring physician to the status of patient and notifies them of significant scans requiring their immediate attention and visualization while patient is undergoing examination
Perform preventive maintenance as required
Monitor scanner and computers for any malfunction and notifies necessary personnel through applicable work orders so corrective actions can be taken
Demonstrate the proper use and procedures associated with the Ultrasound scanner and the associated software to another Ultrasound technologist
Explain and assists the radiologist in showing scans to physicians and technologists
Perform initial mediation for patient or physician complaints and directs them to appropriate personnel as needed
Perform additional duties as directed by the section Non-commissioned Officer in Charge/Officer in Charge (NCOIC/OIC) as deemed necessary and appropriate for the position of an Ultrasound Technologist
Be able to perform the full range of general & Advanced Ultrasound services consistent with their training and experience to adequately obtain diagnostic images of all areas of the body
Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of equipment used by the Ultrasound Technologist
Indicate responsibility for the contents and correctness of all prepared reports/forms by affixing his/her own signature to the documents and validating their contents
Adhere with all safety procedures and practices associated with the facility and OSHA
Experience/Education:
Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required for this position
