DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: These RN positions provide specialized care to patients throughout their perioperative experience.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Specialty Coordinator OR RN-Redmond prioritizes, delegates, coordinates, and provides safe, therapeutic allocation of nursing resources to patients and families. Makes independent judgments/ decisions and takes action regarding a wide range of issues including instruments and equipment. Collaborates with appropriate disciplines to coordinate continuity of patient care from admission through discharge in support of the medical and nursing plans of care while in the Operating Room. This nursing position will provide and oversee the provision of specific care to assigned patients throughout the shift, consistent with the scope of RN licensure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Work with scheduling to monitor upcoming cases to ensure patient needs are met and ensure service specific resources are available and maintained as needed.
Coordinates frequently with Central Processing regarding all instruments and supplies related to the specialty service.
Maintains resource maps per policy and makes appropriate changes in a timely fashion.
Works with scheduling to monitor upcoming cases to ensure patient needs are met.
Develops, plans, and implements process improvements within service.
Alerts nurse manager or Supervisor to actual or potential issues or problems in a timely manner related to specific service.
Initiates/assists with projects, based on unit needs in conjunction with Manager/Supervisor.
Communicates clearly, respectfully, and responsively with Surgeons as to their needs, concerns etc. and follows up with Supervisor or Manager as applicable.
In collaboration with management, establishes and implements clear plans and goals with regards to improvement in specific service.
Utilized as a clinical resource related to scrubbing, circulating, patient positioning.
Completes unit-specific and annual competencies on time. Participates in own evaluation.

Calculates dosages and administers medications accurately in accordance with St. Charles Health System policies and procedures for medication administration.
EDUCATION
Required: As required by licensure
Preferred: BSN
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Required: Current Oregon RN license.
AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.
Preferred: Department specific acute care certification. (i.e. CNOR)
EXPERIENCE
Required: Two years Operating Room experience with skills in the roles of scrubbing and circulating.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Continually (75% or more): Standing and walking, keyboard operation, use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level.
Frequently (50%): Sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1-25 pounds. The use and operation of a motor vehicle for Home Health and Wound Caregivers.
Occasionally (25%): Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing ladder/step-stool (varies by area), reaching overhead, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25-50 pounds, grasping/squeezing, ability to hear whispered speech level.
Rarely (10%): Climbing stairs.
Never (0%): Climbing ladder/step-stool (varies by area), operation of a motor vehicle.
Exposure to Elemental Factors
