Role Purpose
The Materials Manager is responsible for managing up to $14M of finished goods inventory for the HSO. This position provides daily support to the distribution team on the material flow of goods through the HSO. This position also works with supply chain and clinical staff to improve forecasting, ensuring inventory is in place to meet patient demands. The Materials Manager reports to the HSO operations management with a dotted line into Supply Planning Manager and is expected to have extensive functional and technical knowledge of inventory strategy and tactics.
Responsibilities
Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
Manages the maintenance of inventory levels to ensure both service targets and working capital goals are achieved at the HSO; partners and coordinates with other functional areas (Sourcing, UM) to make intelligent use of bulk purchases, as well as leading system-wide conversions.
Provides HSO perspective and leadership to several initiatives to reduce inventory associated costs; recommends strategies and tactics such as how to re-balance and redeploy inventory via data analysis.
Provides operational perspective and expertise into overall carrier management strategy; collaborates with supply chain and the facilities to develop long-term transportation strategies.
Utilizes supply chain concepts, such as forecasting, EOQ, ROP and safety stock to achieve end goals.
