JOB SUMMARY The Nursing Care Assistant with Duke Cardiology of Raleigh functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care. The Nursing Care Assistant performs routine administrative and patient care supportive duties in a Health System medical practice that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic runs smoothly.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative duties include medical records, answering and handling telephone calls, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, handling correspondence, assist with other administrative duties as assigned. Monitor and respond to medical assistant work-ques. Monitor and address medical assistant in-basket pool.
Clinical duties include rooming patients, documentation of vital signs, medication reconciliation, health maintenance history, EKGs, cardiac monitor application and education with appropriate documentation, future testing instructions, assisting providers during exams, POC testing for glucose and anticoagulation monitoring, dressing change as directed, and other clinical duties as assigned.
Stocking, cleaning patient areas as assigned. Maintain required training.
Transport patients via wheelchair to hospital admission or ER as directed
Assist in imaging area or other areas when necessary.
Daily clinic preparation and pre-visit work.
Accept additional duties related to committees and/or clinic projects.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Completion of a Level I - Nurse Aide education program approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing or successful completion of the NC - approved Nurse Aide I competency test.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Currently listed as a Nursing Assistant I (NA I) with the Division of Facility Services with no substantiated findings of abuse, fraud, neglect or misappropriation of property.
BCLS certification must be maintained/completed by the end of new hire orientation, which typically takes place during the first week of employment.
