Senior Communications Specialist - Duke University Hospital

General Description of the Job Class
This position will provide tactical and day-to-day support of internal communications in support of DUHS entities, specific to Duke University Hospital (DUH).
This position will be responsible for the regular execution of communications plans and tactics to ensure maximum effectiveness focused on entity administrators, faculty, and staff at Duke University Hospital. In addition, this position will collaborate with internal communicators across Duke Health to align with broad organizational communication strategies and communication workflows as they pertain to entity audiences.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Serve as creator and editor for DUH communication tools including, but not limited to entity Newsletters, Intranet, Closing the Loop, entity memos, and others.
Use analytics to track results and report them back to entity leaders and appropriate communicator committees.
Contribute content to Duke Health internal communications channels to amplify successes and organizational alignment.
Serve as DUH photographer, videographer, and content publisher for entity events and activities.
Design, edit, and publish internal memos, Intranet articles, and news stories using variety of communication platforms including, but not limited to SharePoint Online, Emma, Constant contact, Microsoft Teams and others.
Participate on committees to enhance communication support for entity missions, activities, and strategic vision.
Collaborate with DUHS Communications to ensure continuity and integration with Duke Health internal communications channels.
Execute communications campaigns that support entity day-to-day operations including print, digital and video within target budget and timelines.
Support face-to-face and virtual meetings for leadership and team members, including town halls, summits, and in-person events.
Ensure consistency and alignment with Duke Health messaging across internal channels and apply brand design standards and positioning to communications material
Represent DUH voice within broader DUHS communications team to amplify successes and opportunities.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education: Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field is required.
Experience: Four years of related experience in communications, marketing communications or marketing with demonstrated experience in driving the implementation of strategic communications plans and tactics.
Work experience should include participation in communications plan development and expertise in tactics that range from digital content and collateral material creation and development, to highly-targeted, audience-specific initiatives.
