Lawn and Shrub Specialist

Location:  AdventHealth Orlando 601 EAST ROLLINS STREET, Orlando, 32803

Schedule:  Full-Time Day (Monday thru Thursday 5:30AM - 2:30PM and Friday 5:30AM - 11:30AM)

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Lawn and Shrub Specialist performs a wide range of lawn and shrub applications across multiple campuses in the 
Central Florida Division. Duties will include such tasks as the following: lawn fertilization, shrub fertilization, pest 
management, weed control, and disease control. Must be able to work odd hours to complete work. Must be flexible to 
accommodate all working hours/shifts to meet the business need. Actively participates in outstanding customer service 
and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Demonstrates through behavior, AdventHealth's core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, 
Stewardship and Teamwork.
•Apply appropriate products to the grounds following safety guidelines.
•Diagnose potential issues in the turf such as chinch bugs, sod webworms, large patch disease, grey leaf spot fungus.
•Diagnose potential issues in the shrubs such as pythium root rot, aphids, scale.
•Treat nuisance weeds in the turf without harming the turf itself.
•Follow detailed department expectations of how and when to treat.
•Present solutions based on conditions, avenues and sources that promote pest success.
•Maintain vehicle in a clean, safe and properly decaled condition.
•Be a very strong team player with a positive attitude and respect towards the team and supporting departments.
•Learn the safety procedures and equipment related to your job and use them as they are required
•Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED:
•Self-motivated with good communication and organizational skills
•Must be able to read and comprehend industry product labels.
•Skilled in how to identify potential insect and disease issues on a campus.
•Must have excellent verbal and written communication abilities
•Must possess ability to deal with problems encountered daily
•Time Management to complete the daily tasks

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•Minimum 3 years general landscaping maintenance experience 
•Minimum 3 years as a lawn/shrub specialist

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
• Driver's License

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION:
•Certification in Best Management Practice
