Chief Medical Officer Educational Health Center of Wyoming (EHCW)
Educational Health Center of Wyoming (EHCW) seeks a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to provide leadership, supervision and expertise for clinical quality and clinical effectiveness across all Educational Health Center of Wyoming clinics, under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CMO will evaluate and optimize the care management approach and processes of disease management for EHCW patients. In addition, the CMO will ensure the highest levels of patient safety and develop processes to assure appropriateness of care and ancillary resource utilization. The CMO will also coordinate with the nursing supervisors and site medical leadership to ensure the clinics provide quality healthcare service with the support of the clinical support teams. This role will provide administrative guidance for the clinical staff as well as providing direct patient care. The CMO will provide medical leadership for the clinics while working closely with the CEO, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Operations Officer (COO) to ensure organizational sustainability. In addition, the CMO will coordinate with the DIO and the GME office to ensure that appropriate resources are available within the clinical settings to allow for compliance with ACGME residency training requirements.
Responsibilities
Oversee the medical staff and facilitate teamwork within the clinic setting; represent medical staff viewpoints to administration and relay administrative views to EHCW medical staff
Ensure timely access to high quality medical care through clinical system improvements, recruitment and retention of providers, and oversight of patient centered medical home initiatives and designations
Provide clinical expertise and leadership in the design and implementation of effective care management processes and develop new initiatives to improve clinical quality
Provide an environment of quality improvement that is data driven, and develop systems to objectively measure outcomes of patient care through review of resources utilization
Ensure compliance with HRSA-required compliance areas such as clinical staffing, credentialing, and privileging, continuity of care, quality assurance, hospital admitting, collaborative relationships, Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) coverage and patient services.
Oversee provider productivity at all EHCW clinics
Coordinate scheduling for EHCW provider staff, ensuring appropriate coverage for patients, and coordinate in partnership with UW Family Medicine Residency program directors to ensure proper after-hours patient coverage
Implement organizational structures that promote shared accountability, high achievement and compliance with applicable laws and regulations; this includes electronic linkages and care delivery tools
Integrate clinical care quality and management within the clinics through collaboration with members of the senior management team, including nursing managers, quality director, and medical leadership at all three clinics
Take a lead role in EHCW major activities, including any clinical initiatives from an organizational or individual clinic basis
Guide the recruitment and orientation of EHCW provider staff
Provide advice to the Board on technical and professional health care policy matters
Provide patient care on a regular basis to the community members who access the clinic
Communicate and coordinate clinical operational activities with the University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency program, working closely with the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) including the DIO and program directors
Approve all leave requests made by direct reports in accordance with UW policy
Promote the EHCW and its program to the community
Maintain a professional liaison relationship with the community
Lead the efforts to maintain compliance with HRSA quality, infection control and patient care requirements
Other duties as appropriately assigned
Education & Experience
MD/DO Degree, with ABMS certification in Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, or Obstetrics & Gynecology, with a preference for Family Medicine certification
Eligible for (or current) licensure in Wyoming
Two years of senior management experience preferred
Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center preferred
Experience working with a residency program preferred
Compensation
This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in the state of Wyoming. Compensation is competitive with national benchmarks and commensurate with the experience, achievement, and responsibilities of this position.
