DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: St. Charles Medical Group encompasses practices in three Central Oregon counties and numerous specialties including family care, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, immediate/urgent care, cardiology, pulmonology, rheumatology, general surgery, cancer care, and sleep medicine. We encourage collaboration between clinical and non-clinical staff to assure we are providing our community with comprehensive and compassionate health care.

This position is located in a robust outpatient OB/GYN office, with physicians, certified nurse midwives, womens health nurse practitioners and behavioral health providers.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The RN, High Risk OB Coordinator-Womens Health at St. Charles Health System provides quality patient and family centered care as a member of the health care team in accordance with SCHS mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures. The RN applies standards for professional nursing practice and focuses clinical care to enhance the experience for patients, families, and all others.This position may provide direct nursing care to OB/GYN patients, as a member of a care team, at one or more SCMG Center for Womens Health clinics This position does not directly supervise or manage other caregivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Coordinates the clinic high-risk OB patients, helping to facility care at subspecialty appointments, connecting with the patient between regular OB visits, coordinating with outside support services. Provides education as well as tracks/monitors blood sugars and blood pressures Responsible for weekly high-risk OB meeting between clinic providers. Works closely with in-patient care coordination to bridge potential gaps in care.

Functions as staff nurse during regularly scheduled shifts as available.

Performs fetal monitoring.

Assists with quality control for point-of-care tests performed on-site.

Performs point-of-care lab tests in accordance with lab protocol.

Assists with ordering and maintaining daily inventory of supplies and pharmaceuticals.

Maintains and demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, standards, and techniques, and applies this knowledge in accordance with SCHS policies and work instructions and within the laws and regulations governing nursing practice in the State of Oregon.

With care team formulates and implements a plan of care, including follow-up planning, utilizing assessments data and patient, family, and health team input. Ensures goals for patient are realistic, measurable, and developed in conjunction with the patient and family.

Participates in patient triage on telephone or on site, assessing the patients condition and needs using critical thinking and clinical judgment: set outcomes; implements appropriate nursing actions and collaborates with other disciplines to meet the patients/familys physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and intellectual needs; and evaluates patients progress.

May need to perform venipuncture and/or intravenous access for treatment.

Participates in creating a healing environment that supports all aspects of the care environment and the wholeness of each individual patient and caregiver.

Participates in creating intentional relationships and demonstrates focus attitudes and behaviors that enhance the care experience.

Provides a therapeutic presence in service to others by purposefully responding to the needs of patients in a caring way, including introducing oneself and explaining role in patients care,asking the patient his or her preferred name, sitting with the patient to determine his or her care goals, active listening, and communicating effectively and appropriately through touch, eye contact, etc.

Documents all patient care with proficiency in compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory agencies.

Calculates dosages and administers medications accurately in accordance with St. Charles Health System policies and procedures for medication administration.

EDUCATION:

Required: As required by licensure.

Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

Required: Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Oregon by the OR State Board of Nursing. AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Minimum of two (2) years OB/GYN nursing experience.

Preferred: Nursing experience in an OB/GYN ambulatory setting.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.
