Burlington, VT - University of Vermont Health Network (UVMHN) and The University of Vermont, Larner College of Medicine (LCOM) seek an authentic, talented, and visible physician leader to serve as the next Chief Physician Executive (CPE), UVMHN and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, LCOM. This executive will also serve as the President for UVMHN Medical Group (UVMHN MG). (the title abbreviated as "CPE/Sr. Associate Dean")
The UVM Health Network comprises the Medical Group, six hospitals, and Home Health and Hospice. With annual revenues of $3.4 billion and more than 15,000 staff, UVMHN serves over one million people in Vermont and northern New York. The LCOM, the nation's seventh-oldest medical school, is widely recognized for innovation in education and research and consists of four basic science departments and twelve clinical departments. In fiscal year 2024, research funding at the LCOM totaled $101.5 million.
Reporting to UVMHN's President and CEO, Sunil "Sunny" Eappen, M.D., M.B.A. and the LCOM's Dean Richard Page, M.D., the CPE/Sr. Associate Dean will be a key participant in the course-setting and performance of UVMHN, its Medical Group, and the leadership of advancing research and education through the LCOM. The CPE/Sr. Associate Dean role includes oversight of academic network department chairs and, in turn, all physicians in the network. The role carries substantial influence in leading the clinical, academic, and quality and safety missions across the health network.
The successful candidate will be an exceptional communicator and gifted relational leader. They will develop credibility by advancing goals, providing vision, and demonstrating the necessary conviction to lead change. Success will be determined by their ability to develop trust through active listening, supporting others, demonstrating consistent and sustained visibility, and genuinely seeking to understand people, their perspectives, and the environment, consistent with diversity, equity, and inclusion goals and initiatives.
This is an outstanding career opportunity for a relational, performance-oriented physician leader to join a collaborative organization and help advance its important missions and overall impact on the communities it serves. Qualified candidates must hold an M.D., D.O., MBBS, or equivalent degree from an accredited institution with board certification in the appropriate specialty and be academically eligible for an academic appointment to the faculty of the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine.
