BJC HealthCare System is hiring a PRN Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT/MLS) II – Reg for Microbiology at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, 3015 N. Ballas Rd, St. Louis, MO, 63131

 Position Details:

• PRN – As needed, primarily dayshift, includes weekend availability 
• Dayshift Shift Hours: 6:30am-3pm (during weekday and weekend availability needed)
• Vitek, Bruker, Kiestra, Biofire, Cepheid
• Setting up rapid testing, PCR, running quality control, reading culture plates, performing mass spec identification, performing susceptibility testing 

Experience:

• Lab experience (preferred - not required)
• Microbiology experience (preferred)
• Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Physical / Life Sciences or related field
• 2 years or more of experience
• ASCP, AMT, AAB or equivalent

Role Purpose

The Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) II performs specimen processing and routine / complex testing on blood and other specimens which requires a knowledge and understanding of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required. Demonstrates good clinical laboratory practice
