The Esoterix division at LabCorp is seeking a Technical Director to join their team in Calabasas, CA! Esoterix provides esoteric testing for hospitals and physician specialists, primarily specializing in endocrinology and GI testing. Esoterix goal is to provide premier laboratory services that positively impact patient care and cost-effective medical treatment. The CLS will be working in the Endocrinology and Rheumatology department. In this position you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at Labcorp: "Improving Health, Improving Lives".
**Pay Range: $175,000-$200,000 annually
All job offers will be based on a candidate?s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
Work Schedule: Onsite Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Job Responsibilities
Oversees scientific and technical direction of the laboratories and manufacturing, including direct responsibility for solving any technical issues.
Reviews overall performance of each laboratory, including reported reference ranges and types of reports submitted to clients.
Identifies, investigates, and explores the need for new assays, equipment, and processes, finding ways to enhance business performance and opportunities with an awareness of the cost/benefits. Prepares corresponding capital requests.
Establishes proper procedures for setup and validation of assays and testing documentation.
Assures that the quality of laboratory results is at the highest practical level.
Sets efficiency and TAT parameters for the laboratory, determining how these parameters should be monitored.
Provides technical input for Standard Operating Procedures.
Reviews and approves final reports, validation plans and validation reports.
Acts as a consultant for clients, sales reps, and clinical trials for technical questions, troubleshooting, and pricing.
Documents all activities necessary to ensure regulatory compliance.
Supervises staff including coaching, performance management, training, interviewing and hiring.
Consults with clients concerning interpretation and clinical significance of test results.
Develops marketing literature and trains sales team on services offered by Esoterix Inc. Travels with sales team to meet with clients.
Adheres to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies.
Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job related duties requested by senior management.
Requirements
M.D. or Ph.D. in Medical Technology, Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related scientific field
Minimum 5 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience or related industry experience with a demonstrated ability to develop assays or technical processes.
California Lab Scientist License required -CLS
NYS COQ in Immunology, Endocrinology and Routine testing preferred.
ABCC board certification preferred, must be board eligibility to take the boards is ABCC board certification
Prior experience with Rheumatology, Endocrinology, and/or Immunology is preferred
Experience leading the lab teams during CAP, CLIA audits required
Prior experience at a director level is preferred
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
Leadership skills to work with lab staff, developing their capabilities and involving them in problem-solving/urgent matters
Deductive reasoning/analytical skills to reach a resolution to customer inquiries or lab opportunities/issues
Understanding of test validations, quality control and quality management; proficiency testing; and regulatory requirements
Ability to respond to urgent situations in a timely manner
Ability to understand quality standards and be accountable for providing accurate results
