The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology of the University of Minnesota Medical School seeks a full-time surgical, ABP board certified/eligible surgical pathologist with sub-specialty training or significant clinical experience/interest in liver and/or gastrointestinal pathology.
Academic rank, compensation and appointment type will be based on qualifications and experience. Candidates must have demonstrated ability in teaching and in scholarly productivity. Minimum requirements are an MD or equivalent degree, eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Minnesota, board certified or board eligible in AP or AP/CP, completion of an ACGME-accredited pathology residency training and a sub-specialty fellowship program or demonstrated significant experience or interest in transplant/liver and/or GI pathology. Candidates with expertise to practice in an additional subspecialty are highly desirable. Leadership opportunities exist for qualified candidates, including the directorship of the GI/Liver Pathology Fellowship Program. The department is launching a significant digital pathology program and candidates with an interest or expertise in digital pathology are encouraged to apply.
This candidate will spend significant time providing sub-specialty clinical service in a complex, growing anatomic pathology division. Sign-out responsibilities, autopsy service, frozen section coverage, resident and fellow supervision, on-call duties and conferences are shared with other members of the anatomic pathology faculty. The department is launching a significant digital pathology program and is recruiting faculty who have special interest and expertise in this field.
Candidates will participate in medical student, resident and fellow education, and are encouraged to pursue a research program that will lead to a national/international reputation of excellence. Dedicated academic time will be used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate's area of specialty/research expertise. Preferred candidates will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment for medical students, residents, fellows and faculty.
The University of Minnesota is a large and diverse university and medical school with an integrated, multi-specialty group practice composed of over 1,000 physicians and 1,500 health professionals, M Physicians. The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is home to a large number of anatomic and clinical pathology faculty as well as many basic science faculty involved in research, undergraduate and graduate education. Pay and Benefits:
This role is dually employed by M Physicians and the University of Minnesota. Total salary is market competitive and based on AAMC salary benchmarks. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through M Physicians. The base salary range for this position is $260,000 - $390,000 commensurate with experience, qualifications, and cFTE. The salary from the University is dependent upon the academic effort of the person hired.
