The role you’ll contribute:
The Sepsis Coordinator position is founded upon the role of the Registered Nurse (RN) and the nursing process competencies of Assessment, Nursing Diagnosis, Outcome Identification, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation.
The Sepsis Coordinator uses clinical expertise, critical-thinking skills, collaboration, systems thinking, evidence-based practice and transformational leadership to positively impact the outcomes of the patient populations.The Sepsis Coordinator serves as consultant, collaborator, educator, innovator and coach to facilitate patient care outcomes, process improvement initiatives and staff development.Their influence may extend across multiple units, departments and facilities and impact community, organizational and national levels to contribute to outcomes and extending the body of nursing knowledge.The Sepsis Coordinator promotes sepsis outcomes as part of the organization’s strategic plan and assists in the development and implementation of process improvement initiatives that impact that care and outcomes of the patient across transitions in care.

Collaboration Competency:Work jointly with professionals across all disciplines to optimize clinical outcomes through process improvement opportunities.This may include, but is not limited to, collaboration with infection prevention, physicians, pharmacy and corporate professionals.
What you will accomplish in a day's work:
Leads hospital sepsis program to increase compliance to bundle standards and decrease mortality.
Educates hospital staff on recognizing and applying the sepsis protocol to inpatients who meet criteria.
Analyzes clinical data and identifies trends in sepsis readmissions and post operative sepsis.
Collaborates with the Infection Preventionist to reduce overall incidence of infections such as prevention of catheter associated bloodstream infections and central line associated bloodstream infections.
Assists with other duties within the quality department such as organization and facilitation of the daily safety huddle, state and regulatory agency survey support and achievement of key outcomes.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Registered Nurse license (for applicable state).
BLS from the AHA (American Heart Association)
Basic computer skills in Office, Word and Excel.
Excellent communication skills.
Leadership skills in decision making and problem solving.
Evidence of project management and/or process improvement.
