This individual provides direct patient care according to established protocols, policies, procedures, and accepted standards of care. Functions within approved scope and credentials as approved by Beebe Medical Center credentialing committee. Follow established standards, procedures, and practices, and gives specific patient care directions to nursing and other staff. Must be able to obtain a Delaware license to practice in field of specialty and hold a DEA upon eligibility.

• Maintain the well-being and independent functioning of aging adult patients.
• Diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries that are common within the aging process. 
• Refer patients to other specialists for suspected health problems outside of the geriatrician scope of practice.
• Work with other members of the interdisciplinary teams for continuity of care. 
• Closely monitor patients’ drug regiment to avoid side effects of prescription medications and potential drug interactions. 
• Able to weigh the potential benefit of a treatment against the possible risks to the aging patient.
• Focusing on the patients’ physical, mental, and emotional functioning.
• Possess great bedside manner and able to broach the subject of advance care planning with patients and families, including discussions about long-term care alternatives, palliative, and hospice care, etc.

• Effectively communicate with co-workers to ensure the best care and the proper procedures.
• Must be able to communicate in high-stress environments.
• Offer full attention to an individual person or group to fully understand problems and their nature
• Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solution, conclusions, or approaches to problems
• Able to act autonomously and make difficult decision that would benefit the patient or make corrections.
• Endure intense situation and handle pressure that comes with extreme situations
• Must be trustworthy.

• Board Eligible/Board Certified in area of specialty
• MD/DO Degree
• Licensed to practice medicine and able to obtain Delaware License, CSR, and DEA
