Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, acts as project Lead on new fiber optic and copper structured cabling work efforts, conducts maintenance and service on a large enterprise cabling plant via work orders, operates associated power and hand tools, and performs cost-effective, waste and error reduction, manages related inventory; is well versed BICSI, ANSI, NEC and common electrical building codes; adheres to Denver Health cabling standards, maintains and adheres to Denver Health safety standards, ceiling standards and infection control standards in patient areas.
Essential Functions:
Install, terminate, test, label & document horizontal, backbone & other cables. Install cable pathway systems (cable trays, cable racks, J-hooks or D-rings). Dress & route cable into telecom closets, modular furniture & other work area outlets. Build out telecom & equipment rooms Firestop various types of cable penetrations. (15%)
Assign specific tasks to Installer II and Installer I team members and monitoring their work ethics for efficiency, quality, and safety. (15%)
Conduct job site surveys (including visual inspections, problem identification, etc.) (15%)
Interface with end users, stake holders, project managers and vendors for each project or eMAC when required. (15%)
Attend project planning & progress meetings with or without customer contacts assigned (15%)
Provide project budgets through quote process. (15%)
Provide technical support for customer contacts & technicians on request. (10%)
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:
5+ years of experience in installation of cabling & electronic devices associated with: Telecom Systems, TCP/IP Networks, CCTV Security, CATV, Access control & Wireless Systems and Project Lead experience required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have ability to install, terminate & test low voltage cables & fiber optical cables (to include fiber optic fusion splicing, single mode & multi-mode fiber optical cables twisted pair cable, RG 6 coax, Heliax 50ohm coax, high pair count solid conductor backbone cable.). Ability to read blueprints.
Ability to follow written & verbal instructions.
Comprehension of terminology pertaining to installation & service of telecom, data, security & wireless systems. Use of small hand tools.
Use of power tools.
Heavy physical effort (usually lifting/moving up to 100 pounds).
Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds.
Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts & roof tops utilizing proper fall protection.
Carrying of loads up & down stairs. Microsoft Office experience a plus.
Ability to use Vendor Specific Software.
Customer service skills.
Must have color vision and good hearing.
Organizational skills.
