About the Role:
Job Summary
The Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) is responsible for the direction and leadership of operational, financial, programmatic and employee related activities of NGHS. This includes establishing, meeting and continuously monitoring the goals and objectives while maintaining alignment with the strategic goals and objectives for NGHS. The CNIO is responsible for developing and supporting the NGHS Informatics Center of Excellence (ICOE) program in partnership with the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO). The ICOE will engage all informatics functions and contributing disciplines throughout the health system. This multidisciplinary, collaborative center acknowledges that diverse skills, experiences, and perspectives are essential to advancing effective use of healthcare information technology.
Principal activities for the Chief Nursing Information Officer include:
* Actively engaged in establishing the vision, direction, strategy, and culture for informatics and information services which optimally supports attainment of the institution's mission.
* Directing the informatics team to effectively collaborate and achieve the vision and strategic, financial, and operational plans that have been developed for NHGS Informatics and Information Services.
* Leading and mentoring multi-disciplinary teams in development of systems and processes that create a culture that delivers optimal service, quality, and patient-family centered health and wellness care resulting in a world class clinician/patient experience.
* Developing and executing informatics strategies that promote the efficient, effective, safe, and evidenced-based
use of technology.
* Serving as a strategic advisor and consultant related to information services and informatics to other senior
leaders.
* Identifying and engaging in healthcare industry partnerships enabling innovation, research, and access to
emerging technology while advancing the overall reputation of the informatics program.
* Defining and developing an infrastructure and allocating resources to support operations while ensuring long-term institutional viability.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications: Registered Nurse Licensure in-state
Educational Requirements: Masters Degree in Clinical Informatics, Nursing, Healthcare Information Systems, or related field
Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice is desired. Master's Degree in Informatics, Nursing, Business Administration or other related field required.
Minimum Experience: Seven (7) years of progressively responsible management experience in healthcare/hospital clinical information systems evaluation, development and implementation. Experience in developing and mentoring leaders. Experience in a multi-hospital system or integrated delivery system. Broad experience in the full scope of operations in an accredited academic medical center or primary teaching hospital of comparable size and scope to NGHS. systems

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Provides input and operational oversight for the strategic plan, vision, and clinical operations for the system-wide clinical technology in the practice settings across the continuum.
Partners with the Chief Medical Information Officer and Vice President of Patient Care/Chief Nursing Officer in the design and implementation of leveraging technology to improve work processes, decrease work intensity, and improve quality and safety.
Provides senior ITS clinical leadership coordination and oversight for the implementation, operation, growth, and integration of clinical and business systems with other Health System information technology and initiatives.
Serves as a representative of Nursing and Clinical Informatics to NGHS to facilitate the shared interests and
relationships between the parties.
Responsible for developing and maintaining IT Strategic and Tactical Plans, with particular emphasis on on Nursing and Clinical Informatics services.
Maintains membership in professional organization(s) to develop knowledge and resources through networking,
continuing education, and participation in national, regional, and/or local activities.
Develops and executes plans and strategies for gaining clinician and physician successful adoption and ongoing use of CIS/EMR across the organization.
Leads and/or serves on a variety of appropriate internal and external committees to represent Nursing Informatics.
