The role you’ll contribute:
The medical physicist resident is a two year clinical training position for those with an accredited graduate degree in medical physics. The clinical training is divided into 12 clinical rotations over thetwo year program. One mentor is assigned to oversee the progress for each rotation and will coordinate with other faculty physicists and departmental staff to cover the training topics. The resident will perform clinical duties under one or two supervisors for each rotation.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
The resident will work under the supervision of a qualified medical physicist in performing clinical training activities such as: monthly, daily, and annual QA, machine commissioning, treatment planning, dosimetry, chart checking, SRS, SRT, SBRT, IGRT, TSI/TBI, IORT, Brachytherapy (LDR, HDR), imaging technology, and radiation safety.
The resident will be required to attend departmental meetings, clinical seminars and follow a clinical rotation training schedule as detailed in the residency program handbook.
The resident will be evaluated after the completion of each clinical rotation by the rotation mentor and residency program faculty. The evaluation will consist of reviewing the competencies completed, mentor evaluation, reports submitted by the resident and a passing of an oral exam.
At the end of the residency, the program faculty will evaluate the resident’s performance in the program and decide whether to award the certificate of completion. This decision will be based on the evaluation of each rotation topic, recommendations of the faculty, attendance records, oral exam score, and the judgement of the Committee that the resident trainee has acquired the knowledge, and skills required to independently perform the duties of a qualified Medical Physicist.
