General Summary
Perform a variety of specialized technical and supportive patient care activities to assist medical professional personnel in diagnostic, therapeutic and research procedures. This role will be supervised by a sleep tech supervisor.
Work Performed
Prepare and set up medical supplies and equipment for diagnostic, therapeutic and research procedures.
Interacting with patients and providing instructions on how to use at home sleep aid equipment
Confer with patients to obtain information for chart and laboratory records, explain procedures, allay fears and elicit cooperation; ensure completion of patients' laboratory tests prior to examination by Prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to include obtaining specimens, taking vital signs and measurements, positioning patients and attaching equipment leads to specific body locations.
Assist physicians and nursing personnel during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to include handling instruments, calling out equipment readings and administering oxygen and opaque dyes; alert physician to patient discomfort.
Operate equipment such as polygraphs, magnetic and video tape recorders and X-ray machines to monitor and obtain recordings of specific body functions; calculate, compile and record data obtained from graphs and numerical readings.
Operate manual and automatic laboratory equipment to make qualitative and quantitative analyses of specimens.
Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning; clean and sterilize instruments, supplies and equipment. inventory of supplies; reorder as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
CNAs, EKG Techs and or ER techs experience preferred
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires completion of a related 1 year technical school program.
Experience
Work generally requires t wo years of experience in health carespecialties related to the specific position; two years additionalyears related experience may be substitut ed for the technical school.OR ANEQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDU CATION AND/OREXPERIENCE
