BUMC IHC (Immunohistochemisty) department has a staff of 5 FTE that work together as a Team performing over 500 different IHC protocols. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of Immunohistochemisty with the ability to perform Quality Assurances steps on the protocols performed. They must have a working knowledge of performing Titer dilutions on concentrated antibodies and have the ability to construct a multitissue control block using the Tissue Microarray technique
The Histotechnician 3 performs and monitors a variety of anatomic procedures and processes, assumes responsibility for problem resolutions, training others on all aspects of the department with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Perform variety of technical procedures resulting in creation of microscopic slide preparations.
Follow quality control, quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
Recognize and take appropriate action when established procedures and policies are not followed.
Perform instrument maintenance, maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and troubleshooting as needed.
Maintain effective communication and working relationships with all laboratory personnel, other disciplines, and external customers.
Participate in laboratory projects and educational activities.
Demonstrates and educates laboratory methods, technical skills and provide direction to others.
Performs all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA Director. Assume leadership responsibility in the absence of Supervisor/Manager.
