Under the direction of the Director of Finance-Post Acute Care Services the Patient Accounting and Health Information Management (HIM) Manager will be responsible for Home Health and Hospice billing through final resolution of patients accounts to maximize collectible revenue and minimize outstanding discharged receivables; the orientation training and supervision of all health information technicians and patient account representatives and for monitoring the accuracy and completion of the hard copy and electronic medical record (EMR) to assure compliance with Federal, State and Joint Commission requirements related to patient records. The Patient Accounting and HIM Manager will oversee collection and follow-up activities, identification and processing of appropriate write-offs, accurate resolution of all credit balances, and prompt response to follow-up issues; conduct computer training to new clinical staff in conjunction with other departmental trainers and assist with trouble shooting system functionality, prepping, scanning, and indexing issues related to the EMR. The Patient Accounting and HIM Manager will ensure compliance to contract billing requirements, timely filing of all claims by all Patient Account Representatives and timely filing of hardcopy documentation by all Health Information Clerks.Works closely with Clinical Directors, Managers, Managed Care Liaisons, and Intake Coordinators to ensure revenue cycle optimization.

Strong knowledge of management principles and personnel management
Must be able to demonstrate excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Knowledge of deficiency analysis of medical records including but not limited to physician orders and patient assessments
Knowledge of medical terminology and a good understanding of Home Health and Hospice standards, regulatory requirements, and practices
Knowledge of retention and storage regulations of medical records, legal aspects of release of information, qualitative and quantitative standards for medical records
Thorough understanding of healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies/contracts
Knowledge in all major insurance carrier reimbursement
Ability to perform multiple tasks and to use on-line computer terminal to access and analyze computer reports/patient histories
High level of professionalism and effective communication skills are needed for interaction with physicians, clinical staff and clerical staff
Self-motivated, flexible, analytical, and meticulous with details
Able to effectively organize work and set priorities, establish effective working relationship with all customers served and communicate effectively; express ideas clearly and actively listens
Required:
Minimum 8 years in a leadership role
Master’s degree in Health Information Management or related field from a program approved by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
Current registration as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
Minimum of three years supervisory experience in Health Information Management field and electronic medical record in Home Health and Hospice setting
Preferred:
AAHAM CPAT certification
Familiarity with ICD-10 coding.
Current California driver’s license and valid auto insurance
