The Public Health Practice Manager draws upon knowledge and expertise in public health, behavioral sciences, epidemiology, and health communications and applies that knowledge to the development and management of programmatic activities at the American Public Health Association. This position will also evaluate public health programs and provide technical assistance and consultation to various stakeholders on an array of public health issues. Provide analytic support and technical assistance (program planning, design, evaluation). Conduct scientific literature reviews and analyze findings to enhance APHA’s practice initiatives. Assist with the development of professional development activities such as webinars and other distance learning opportunities. Provide logistical support to plan local stakeholder meetings and convenings. Work with select APHA Sections to continue to strengthen APHA’s programs and role in injury and violence prevention and related areas. Give public health presentations and represent APHA at various partner meetings/conferences/exhibits. Develop fact sheets and other educational materials. Develop social media messaging. Provide support in monitoring and evaluating public health practice initiatives. The position will assist in identifying new funding opportunities that align with the subject areas within the Center. Serve as the injury and violence prevention intern supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned. This is a one-year grant-funded position, with the possibility of continuation based on funding and performance.
Master’s in public health or related field and at least 2 years of experience in program design and management. Knowledge of primary prevention concepts and application to public health programs. Strong oral and written communications skills including oral presentations, gathering, and synthesizing information, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Experience working in injury and violence prevention. Computer literate including some proficiency in creating web-based documents. Availability for limited travel.
Position is based in downtown DC near several metro stations. Hybrid work environment.
Hours: 35 hours a week, full-time, Monday - Friday (daytime). Number of openings: 1.
